Product Overview :

The PAS method oxidizes 1,2-glycol groups in carbohydrates to aldehydes, which react with Schiff reagent to form a magenta compound.
This fungal-specific PAS kit exploits the high polysaccharide content of fungal cell walls. Oxidation by periodic acid exposes aldehyde groups that react with Schiff reagent, producing red staining. The method is rapid, stable, highly specific, and does not require hydrochloric acid–alcohol differentiation.
