Product Overview :
Hydrogen sulfide is a gaseous signaling molecule functioning as a neurotransmitter in the brain. Physiological concentrations of H2S regulate long-term potentiation in the hippocampus and play important roles in hypertension, hemorrhagic shock, and liver cirrhosis.
H2S reacts with zinc acetate, N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine, and ferric ammonium sulfate to form methylene blue, which has a maximum absorbance at 665 nm. Absorbance measurement enables quantification of H2S content.
