Lignin peroxidase (LiP, EC 1.11.1.14) is a heme-containing peroxidase and a major enzyme involved in lignin biodegradation. LiP has broad application potential in feed resource development and wastewater and waste treatment.
LiP catalyzes the oxidation of resveratrol to resveratrol aldehyde, which exhibits a maximum absorbance at 310 nm. Using resveratrol as the substrate, LiP activity is determined by measuring the absorbance of resveratrol aldehyde at 310 nm.
