Product Overview :
The myelin sheath is a multilayered lipid bilayer structure formed by spiral wrapping of glial cell membranes around axons, enabling saltatory conduction at nodes of Ranvier. Myelin pathology progresses through early, intermediate, and late stages. Early lesions show intense staining, intermediate stages show lipid droplet formation, and late stages show complete myelin loss.
Luxol Fast Blue staining is widely used to assess myelin integrity, degeneration, necrosis, and repair in neurological disorders. Pathological changes include swelling, fragmentation, globular deformation, and demyelination.
This kit contains Luxol Fast Blue and eosin counterstain. Myelin stains blue-purple, while background tissue appears red.
