Melanin is a non-hematogenous endogenous pigment produced by melanocytes and is found in skin, eyes, substantia nigra, and hair follicles.
This kit uses the ferrous sulfate method and contains ferrous sulfate, potassium ferricyanide, and nuclear fast red. After staining, melanin appears dark blue-green, and nuclei appear red.
