Phospholipids are amphipathic membrane components comprising glycerophospholipids and sphingolipids. This method uses ferric hematoxylin to stain phospholipids in frozen or fixed sections. Acetone pretreatment is required for lipid extraction. Both phospholipids and nuclei are stained.
