Significance of Measurement: Lipoxygenase (LOX) is widely present in plant tissues and catalyzes the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids, leading to membrane lipid peroxidation. It plays important roles in plant growth, development, senescence, and stress responses.
Principle of Measurement: LOX catalyzes linoleic acid oxidation, producing products with a characteristic absorbance peak at 234 nm. LOX activity is calculated based on the rate of absorbance increase at 234 nm.
