The Perls’ Prussian blue reaction is a classic and sensitive method for detecting iron. In this reaction, potassium ferrocyanide releases ferric ions from protein complexes in the presence of dilute hydrochloric acid. Ferric ions then react with potassium ferrocyanide to form an insoluble blue compound, ferric ferrocyanide.
This Plant Tissue Iron Staining Kit contains standard Perls’ staining solution and tissue preservation solution, enabling simple and rapid visualization of iron distribution in whole plant tissues.
