Product Overview :

Pyruvate carboxylase (PC, EC 6.4.1.1) is present in mitochondria of animals, fungi, and yeast. It catalyzes the conversion of pyruvate, ATP, CO₂, and water to oxaloacetate, ADP, and Pi and is the first rate-limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis.
PC-generated oxaloacetate is converted to malate by malate dehydrogenase with concomitant oxidation of NADH to NAD⁺. The decrease in absorbance at 340 nm reflects PC activity.
