Product Overview :
Significance of Measurement: Soil phosphatases catalyze the mineralization of organic phosphorus and directly influence phosphorus availability in soil ecosystems. Their activity reflects the intensity and direction of biological phosphorus transformation and is affected by soil carbon, nitrogen, available phosphorus content, and pH. Based on optimal pH, soil phosphatases are classified as acidic, neutral, or alkaline.
Principle of Measurement: Under acidic conditions, soil acid phosphatase catalyzes the hydrolysis of disodium phenyl phosphate to produce phenol. Enzyme activity is calculated by measuring the amount of phenol produced.
