The Warthin–Starry method was developed in 1920 to demonstrate spirochetes. Mucopolysaccharides on spirochete surfaces bind silver ions, producing black deposits.
This kit can visualize spirochetes, Helicobacter pylori, Bartonella henselae, Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis, fungi, nerve fibers, and melanin granules. It is recommended for diagnosing chronic gastritis and peptic ulcers when methylene blue staining is insufficient.
