Urate Stain Kit (GMS Method)

Cat.No. :
Kit-3827
Product Overview :
Uric acid is the final degradation product of purine (nucleotide) metabolism in the human body. Most uric acid is excreted via the kidneys, but a portion circulates in the blood as sodium urate. In patients with gout, elevated sodium urate levels may lead to crystal deposition, resulting in gouty tophi, synovitis, arthritis, and renal calculi. Microscopically, urate crystals typically appear as needle-shaped structures arranged in parallel arrays.
This urate staining kit uses the Gomori methenamine silver method to stain urate crystals black and is commonly applied as an auxiliary tool for diagnosing urate-induced gouty nodules. Because urate is water-soluble but poorly soluble in ethanol, ethanol fixation should be used instead of aqueous fixatives such as formalin.
