Significance of Measurement: Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), including pyridoxol, pyridoxal, and pyridoxamine, is a water-soluble vitamin that exists primarily in phosphorylated forms in vivo. VB6 participates in multiple protein and amino acid metabolic pathways and plays an essential role in cellular metabolism.
Principle of Measurement: VB6 reacts with 4-aminoantipyrine in the presence of a strong oxidizing agent to form a stable yellow compound with a characteristic absorption peak at 390 nm.
