BCHE

  • Official Full Name

    butyrylcholinesterase

  • Overview

Mutant alleles at the BCHE locus are responsible for suxamethonium sensitivity. Homozygous persons sustain prolonged apnea after administration of the muscle relaxant suxamethonium in connection with surgical anesthesia. The activity of pseudocholinesterase in the serum is low and its substrate behavior is atypical. In the absence of the relaxant, the homozygote is at no known disadvantage.

BCHE has several biochemical functions, for example, acetylcholinesterase activity, beta-amyloid binding, catalytic activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by BCHE itself. We selected most functions BCHE had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with BCHE. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

BCHE has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with BCHE here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of BCHE.
