Cat. No. : | SRPK1-435H |
Description : | SRPK1 is a Ser/Thr protein kinase that has sequence and function similar to SRPK2. In human cancer cells, it was observed that inactivation of SRPK1 induces cellular resistance to anticancer drugs such as cisplatin and bleomycin. SRPK1 phosphorylates serine/arginine-rich (SR) proteins, such as splicing factors ASF/SF2, SC35, and SRp55, in their arginine/serine-rich (RS) domains in vitro. Hence it is believed that SRPK1 plays a key role in regulation of both constitutive and alternative splicing by regulating intracellular localization of splicing factors. |

Q&As (5)
Ask a questionCombination therapy with SRPK1 inhibitors and other cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy or immunotherapy, is being explored for enhanced efficacy.
SRPK1 phosphorylates SR proteins, which affects their splicing activity and can lead to the inclusion or exclusion of specific exons in mRNA transcripts.
SRPK1 dysregulation has been implicated in neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular disorders, and autoimmune conditions.
Some genetic variations in the SRPK1 gene have been associated with increased susceptibility to certain diseases, but further research is needed to establish these connections.
SRPK1 abnormalities can lead to errors in RNA splicing, contributing to RNA processing disorders, such as spinal muscular atrophy and myotonic dystrophy.
