Ask a question
Can acid phosphatase levels be used to monitor the progression of prostate cancer? 01/04/2023

Yes, acid phosphatase levels can be used to monitor the progression of prostate cancer. Changes in acid phosphatase levels over time can be used to track the effectiveness of treatment and to monitor the recurrence of the cancer.

What are the normal and abnormal ranges of acid phosphatase levels in blood? 12/21/2022

The normal range of acid phosphatase levels in blood is 0.5 to 2.5 U/L for men and 0.1 to 1.0 U/L for women. Abnormal levels may indicate the presence of a disease or condition.

How is acid phosphatase measured? 12/04/2022

Acid phosphatase can be measured using various methods, including spectrophotometry, fluorometry, and immunoassays.

What are the clinical uses of acid phosphatase? 08/03/2022

Acid phosphatase is clinically used as a biomarker for several conditions, such as prostate cancer, bone diseases, and Gaucher disease.

Where is tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase mainly distributed? 07/14/2022

Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) is a group of enzymes synthesized mainly in bone spleen and lungs.

Can acid phosphatase be used as a marker to reflect the number and metabolic activity of osteoclasts? 01/13/2022

The subform b of the isoenzyme 5 (TRACP5b) is most specific for osteoclasts and can be used as a marker reflecting osteoclast number and metabolic activity.

Is the content of AP in the seminal plasma the highest? 04/29/2021

It is present in human seminal plasma at levels 100–1000× higher than in any other body fluid.

How to classify acid phosphatase? 03/02/2021

Acid phosphatases can also be distinguished based on their molecular weight into low-molecular-weight acid phosphatases and high-molecular-weight acid phosphatases, or on the basis of their resistance to inhibition by tartrate into tartrate-sensitive and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatases.

What does AP do? 05/17/2020

AP exists in several biological kingdoms, including plants, animals, fungi, and even bacteria. Research has shown AP to play a pivotal role in different physiological processes in humans, including bone resorption, immune defenses, pathogen clearance, epithelial growth regulation, and iron transport, among others.
