Description : | LMPTP-B (Low Molecular Weight Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase B) is a type of protein phosphatase that specifically targets tyrosine residues in proteins. Phosphatases are enzymes that catalyze the removal of phosphate groups from proteins, and this dephosphorylation event can regulate the activity, localization, and interactions of proteins in a cell. The primary function of LMPTP-B is to dephosphorylate tyrosine residues in proteins that are involved in cell signaling pathways. This includes receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs), which are a class of cell surface receptors that activate signaling pathways when they bind to ligands, and cytoplasmic tyrosine kinases such as Src, which are involved in downstream signaling pathways. Through dephosphorylation of tyrosine residues, LMPTP-B can modulate various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. |
