Description : |
Ca2+/Calmodulin-Dependent Kinase family includes CaM Kinases I through IV. All CaM kinases are able to phosphorylate nuclear transcription factors in vitro at sites that either activate or repress gene expression. Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase IV (CaMKIV) is a monomeric, multifunctional serine/threonine protein kinase that is expressed in subanatomic regions of the central and peripheral nervous system, T lymphocytes, and male germ cells. It is frequently localized to the nucleus, where it serves as a mediator of Ca(2+)-dependent gene expression Inhibition of CAMKIV may be useful in the treatment of anxiety and stress-related disorders through decrease in corticoropin-releasing hormone (CRH), several cancers (e.g., small cell lung, hepatocellular, ovarian) and sperm motility. |

Applications : |
Drug Discovery & Development |
Storage : |
6 months at -20 centigrade. |
Handling Advice : |
Rapidly thaw the vial under cold water and immediately place on ice. Aliquot unused material into prechilled micro-centrifuge tubes and immediately snap-freeze the vials in liquid nitrogen prior to re-storage at -70 centigrade. |
Use/Stability : |
On receipt of material store at -20 centigrade. Unopened reagent is stable for a minimum of 6 months from date of shipment when stored at recommended storage temperature. Avoid repeat freeze/thaw cycles. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge original vial prior to removing the cap. |
