Overview |
Recombinant
Mouse Poliovirus Receptor produced in HEK293 encodes the
mouse CD155 (NP_081790.1) precursor (Met 1-Arg 345). It was
expressed with a C-terminal his tag. |
|
Description |
CD155,
commonlu known as PVR (poliovirus receptor) and Necl-5 (nectin-like
molecule-5), is a type I transmembrane single-span
glycoprotein, and belongs to the nectins and nectin-like (Necl)
subfamily. CD155 was originally identified based on its
ability to mediate the cell attachment and entry of
poliovirus (PV), an etiologic agent of the central nervous
system disease poliomyelitis. The normal cellular function
is in the establishment of intercellular adherens junctions
between epithelial cells. Murine CD155 was first identified
as an Mr approximately 66 kDa glycoprotein named Tage4
containing the conserved amino acids characteristic of
members of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It was
demonstrated in mice that the only available receptor for
mCD96 present on thymocytes is mCD155 although mCD96 can
also bind to nectin-1, a receptor related to CD155, Thus,
CD96/CD155-interaction is preserved between human and mouse
although both receptors are only moderately conserved in
amino acid sequence, and the CD96/CD155-adhesion system
performs a function in T cell biology and cell-mediated
tumor-specific immunity. |

Molecular
Mass |
The
secreted recombinant mouse CD155 generated after removal of
the signal peptide comprises 329 amino acids with a
predicted molecular mass of 28 kDa. As a result of
glycosylation, it migrates as an approximately 60-65 kDa
band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. |
