Description: Allophycocyanin (APC) is isolated from Spirulina sp., a blue-green alga. APC is fluorescent, with an extremely high absorptivity and a high quantum efficiency. Without altering its spectral characteristics, it is a protein which can be easily linked to antibodies and other proteins by conventional protein cross-linking techniques.

Notes: APC is stored in ammonium sulfate solution. Therefore, APC needs to be re-suspended until no visible precipitates. Firstly, it must be extensively dialyzed prior to use or column to remove any remaining ammonium sulfate. Use PBS or your conjugation buffer (1 ml of APC to 1 liter of buffer) to dialyze at least two changes of buffer.
Stability: 2 years under proper storage conditions.
Storage: Store at 4 centigrade, away from light. Do not freeze.
