Description : | This gene encodes a complex glycoprotein secreted in plasma. The precursor is proteolytically processed into distinct functioning proteins: alpha-1-microglobulin, which belongs to the superfamily of lipocalin transport proteins and may play a role in the regulation of inflammatory processes, and bikunin, which is a urinary trypsin inhibitor belonging to the superfamily of Kunitz-type protease inhibitors and plays an important role in many physiological and pathological processes. This gene is located on chromosome 9 in a cluster of lipocalin genes. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |

Ask a questionAMBP expression levels and isoform variations can serve as diagnostic biomarkers for inflammatory diseases, immune dysregulation, or infection, aiding in disease diagnosis, monitoring, and prognostication.
AMBP expression is regulated by genetic and epigenetic factors, including transcription factors, DNA methylation, and histone modifications, which influence its expression patterns in different cell types and disease contexts.
AMBP modulates immune cell activities by regulating cellular adhesion, migration, phagocytosis, cytokine production, and immune cell differentiation through intracellular signaling pathways, such as MAPK and NF-魏B pathways.
AMBP participates in the regulation of complement activation by interacting with complement components, controlling the formation of membrane attack complexes and modulating the inflammatory response.
Targeting AMBP for therapeutic interventions in immune-mediated disorders or inflammatory conditions can be achieved through approaches such as small molecule inhibitors, antibody-based therapies, or gene editing techniques.
AMBP plays important roles in the immune system, including regulating inflammatory responses, modulating complement activation, and contributing to host defense mechanisms.
AMBP is released or secreted by immune cells through various mechanisms, including vesicular trafficking, exosomes, or proteolytic cleavage, which can be exploited for therapeutic purposes or biomarker discovery.
AMBP contributes to tissue homeostasis and immune surveillance in different organs, such as the kidney, lung, or reproductive system, and its dysregulation can have implications in tissue damage, autoimmune diseases, or infections in specific organ systems.
AMBP interacts with various immune-related proteins, such as complement components C3 and C5, cytokines, and cell surface receptors, influencing immune cell functions, immune signaling, and inflammation processes.
The structural features of AMBP, including its two domains (伪1-microglobulin and bikunin), are crucial for its immune-related functions, protein-protein interactions, and stability.
