Description : | This gene encodes one of the SERCA Ca(2+)-ATPases, which are intracellular pumps located in the sarcoplasmic or endoplasmic reticula of muscle cells. This enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATP coupled with the translocation of calcium from the cytosol to the sarcoplasmic reticulum lumen, and is involved in muscular excitation and contraction. Mutations in this gene cause some autosomal recessive forms of Brody disease, characterized by increasing impairment of muscular relaxation during exercise. Alternative splicing results in three transcript variants encoding different isoforms. |

Q&As (6)
Ask a questionYes, the expression and function of ATP2A1 recombinant protein in cardiomyocytes are regulated by different regulatory mechanisms, such as endogenous hormones and signaling pathways.
The recombinant ATP2A1 protein interacts with other proteins of the sarcoplasmic reticulum, such as calsequestrin and phospholamban, to regulate muscle contraction.
The ATP2A1 recombinant protein can be used as a drug target because it plays an important role in regulating muscle and cardiomyocyte function. However, there are no clinically applicable drugs targeting ATP2A1.
Impairment of the normal function of ATP2A1 recombinant protein in cardiomyocytes may contribute to the development of cardiovascular diseases, such as reduced myocardial contractility and heart failure.
Mutations in the ATP2A1 recombinant protein may cause calcium leakage and abnormal muscle contraction, leading to muscle diseases.
Certain drugs can affect the function of the recombinant ATP2A1 protein, such as calcium antagonists and cardiac agonists. These drugs regulate calcium homeostasis in muscle and cardiomyocytes.
Customer Reviews (3)
