Description : | This gene encodes a member of the aurora kinase subfamily of serine/threonine kinases. The genes encoding the other two members of this subfamily are located on chromosomes 19 and 20. These kinases participate in the regulation of alignment and segregation of chromosomes during mitosis and meiosis through association with microtubules. A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 8. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. |

Q&As (6)
Ask a questionAURKB protein interacts with a variety of cell cycle regulatory proteins, including Cdk1, INCENP, Survivin, etc., to regulate the progression of cell mitosis.
The substrates of AURKB include chromosome-associated proteins, cytoskeletal proteins and other cell cycle regulatory proteins. Phosphorylation modification of these substrates regulates chromosome segregation and cell division during mitosis.
AURKB protein is mainly located in the nucleus and cytoplasm and participates in the regulation of cell mitosis.
The expression of the AURKB gene is regulated by cell cycle regulators and other transcription factors and is mainly expressed in the mitotic phase of cells.
The activity of AURKB protein is regulated by a variety of factors, including phosphorylation modification, protein interaction and cell cycle regulation.
The protein reaches its peak expression during early and metaphase of cell mitosis and is closely associated with chromosome segregation and cell division.
