Cat. No. : RBP4-3717H
Description : RBP4 is protein that in humans is encoded by the RBP4 gene. This protein belongs to the lipocalin family and is the specific carrier for retinol (vitamin A alcohol) in the blood. It delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues. In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin, which prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli. A deficiency of vitamin A blocks secretion of the binding protein posttranslationally and results in defective delivery and supply to the epidermal cells.
Source : E. coli
Species : Human
Form : Filtered (0.4 μm) and lyophilized from 0.5 mg/ml in PBS buffer, pH 7.5.
Research topic : Diabetology-Autoimmunity; Energy metabolism and body weight regulation
Purity : 95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Reconstitution : Add deionized water to prepare a working stock solution of approximately 0.5 mg/mL and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. Product is not sterile! Please filter the product by an appropriate sterile filter before using it in the cell culture.
Applications : Western blotting; ELISA; Binding assay
Quality Control Test : BCA to determine quantity of the protein; SDS PAGE to determine purity of the protein
