Cat. No. : ASAH2-582H
Description : The human ASAH2 geneencodes Nacylsphingosine amidohydrolase2, also known as neutral ornonlysosomal ceramidase. ASAH2 is a type II integral membrane protein thatcan be cleaved to produce a soluble secreted protein. The enzyme is abundantin the brush border membranes of the intestine, but is also expressed intissues such as kidney, brain and liver. An Nterminally truncated form ofhuman ASAH2 has been shown to localize to mitochondria.
Source : Chinese HamsterOvary cell line, CHO-derived.
Form : Supplied as a 0.2 μmfiltered solution in MES, NaCl and Sodium Cholate.
N-terminalSequence : His
Molecular Weight : 83 kDa
Activity : Measured by itsability to hydrolyze the substrate C12:0 ceramide into sphingosine anddodecanoic acid. The specific activity is > 5,000 pmoles/min/μg, asmeasured under the described conditions.
Endotoxin Level : < 1.0EU per 1 μg of the protein by the LAL method.
SDS-PAGE : 132 kDa,reducing conditions.
Purity : > 95%,by SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions and visualized by silver stain.

Ask a question
Can ASAH2 activity be regulated by post-translational modifications? 01/27/2022

Post-translational modifications, such as phosphorylation, may impact ASAH2 activity, although further research is needed for a comprehensive understanding.

Are there any known inhibitors of ASAH2? 08/27/2019

While specific inhibitors for ASAH2 are not yet available, researchers are actively exploring potential compounds that can modulate its activity.

In which cellular compartments is ASAH2 found? 01/28/2018

ASAH2 is primarily localized in the lysosomes, where it carries out the ceramide hydrolysis process.

What are the consequences of ASAH2 deficiency? 10/09/2017

Deficiency in ASAH2 activity can lead to the accumulation of ceramides, which may disrupt cellular signaling and contribute to disease development.

How is ASAH2 gene expression regulated? 01/28/2017

ASAH2 gene expression can be regulated by various factors, including transcription factors, epigenetic modifications, and signaling pathways.

Are there any diseases associated with ASAH2? 09/17/2016

Mutations in the ASAH2 gene have been associated with a rare form of hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy (HSAN) called HSAN1C.

Is ASAH2 ubiquitously expressed in all tissues? 08/08/2016

Yes, ASAH2 is ubiquitously expressed in various tissues throughout the body.
