Description : ATP-dependent transporter of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) family that actively extrudes physiological compounds and xenobiotics from cells. Transports a range of endogenous molecules that have a key role in cellular communication and signaling, including cyclic nucleotides such as cyclic AMP (cAMP) and cyclic GMP (cGMP), bile acids, steroid conjugates, urate, and prostaglandins. Mediates the ATP-dependent efflux of glutathione conjugates such as leukotriene C4 (LTC4) and leukotriene B4 (LTB4) too. The presence of GSH is necessary for the ATP-dependent transport of LTB4, whereas GSH is not required for the transport of LTC4. Mediates the cotransport of bile acids with reduced glutathione (GSH). Transports a wide range of drugs and their metabolites, including anticancer, antiviral and antibiotics molecules. Confers resistance to anticancer agents such as methotrexate.

Ask a question
Is ABCC4 related to lung cancer cell proliferation? 08/02/2022

ABCC4 is required for cell proliferation and tumorigenesis in non-small cell lung cancer. The percentage of cells in G1 phase was increased when ABCC4 expression was suppressed.

Can ABCC4 improve the absorption of dasatinib? 09/07/2021

Study show that ABCC4 in the stomach facilitates the oral absorption of dasatinib, and it possibly plays a similar role for other orally administered substrates, such as acetylsalicylic acid.

What diseases are ABCC4 associated with? 08/12/2021

Cancer, inflammatory bowel disease,Cardiovascular disease,Neurological disorders and so on.

What is the role of inhibiting ABCC in addition to reducing drug resistance? 08/03/2021

Specific for different ABCC protein, may reduced growth, migration and invasion.

What signal pathways are ABCC4 related to? 07/07/2021

cAMP/Epac-PKA pathway,MEK/ERK or PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, depends on different functions.

In which cells are ABCC4 mostly expressed? 03/19/2021

MRP4/ABCC4 is an efflux membrane transporter expressed in renal tubules, hepatocytes, brain capillaries, prostate and blood cells.

Can MRP4 be a therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases 06/15/2020

Some results show that MRP4 (ABCC4) is a potential pharmacologic target for cardiovascular disease.

Which molecules can ABCC4 transport? 08/12/2019

ABCC4 is capable of pumping a wide variety of endogenous and xenobiotic organic anionic compounds out of the cell, such as cyclic nucleotides, eicosanoids, urate and conjugated steroids.

What are the inhibitors of ABCC4? 03/14/2019

MK571 or sorafenib, as well as after ABCC4 siRNA

Is there mrp4 in platelets? What's the role? 08/09/2018

Yes, MRP4 or ABCC4 that has recently been shown to play a role in cAMP homeostasis, a key-pathway in vascular biology and in platelet functions.

What is the structure of MRP4? 05/17/2018

The protein is composed of 1,522 amino acids and has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 171 kDa.But the crystal structure of MRP4 has not yet been determined.

Which miRNAs regulate ABCC4? 06/09/2017

One research show that miR-124a and miR-506 expression was negatively correlated with MRP4 protein expression in 26 human kidney samples.

Is ABCC4 expressed in platelets? What is the function? 05/17/2017

ABCC4 is primarily expressed on the plasma membrane. The ABCC4 membrane transporter modulates platelet aggregation

Is Kawasaki release related to ABCC4? 05/09/2017

Yes, a previous family-based linkage study revealed that Kawasaki disease (KD) was associated with variations of the ABCC4 gene in most European populations.

What is the response to the decreased expression of MRP4 in the cardiovascular system? 03/09/2017

A prolonged inhibition of MRP4 can promote cardiac hypertrophy, and MRP4 inhibition in platelets induces a moderate thrombopathy.
