Cat. No. : CDK8-1003H
Description : CDK8 is a member of the CDK family which are important regulators of cell cycle progression. CDK8 associates with Cyclin C and is a component of the RNA polymerase II holoenzyme complex that phosphorylates the carboxy-terminal domain (CTD) of the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II. CDK8 regulate transcription by targeting the CDK7/cyclin H subunits of the general transcription initiation factor IIH (TFIIH). Inhibition of CDK8 expression inhibits proliferation in colon cancer cells characterized by high levels of CDK8 and beta-catenin hyperactivity. CDK8 kinase activity is necessary for β-catenin-driven transformation and for expression of several β-catenin transcriptional targets.

Ask a question
Is CDK8 exclusively associated with cancer, or does it have physiological roles in normal cellular functions? 01/31/2020

CDK8 plays essential roles in normal cellular functions, including development and tissue homeostasis. Its dysregulation, however, is implicated in cancer.

Can CDK8 inhibitors be used in combination with other cancer treatments, and if so, what are the potential benefits? 11/07/2019

Combination therapies involving CDK8 inhibitors are being explored to enhance treatment outcomes and reduce the likelihood of resistance, providing a more comprehensive approach to cancer management.

How does CDK8 inhibition affect the cell cycle, and why is this significant in cancer therapy? 12/30/2018

CDK8 inhibition can disrupt the cell cycle, slowing down or halting the uncontrolled cell division characteristic of cancer cells, making it a potential therapeutic strategy.

How does CDK8 influence the immune response in the tumor microenvironment? 07/21/2017

CDK8 can modulate the expression of genes involved in immune response. Understanding its role in the tumor microenvironment may lead to novel immunotherapeutic strategies.

Are there ongoing clinical trials investigating the efficacy of CDK8 inhibitors in cancer patients? 06/11/2016

Yes, several clinical trials are underway to assess the safety and effectiveness of CDK8 inhibitors as a targeted therapy for different types of cancer.
