Cat. No. : DFFA-488H
Description : DNA fragmentation factor (DFF) is a heterodimeric protein of 40-kD (DFFB) and 45-kD (DFFA) subunits. DFFA, also known as DNA fragmentation factor subunit alpha, is the substrate for caspase-3 and triggers DNA fragmentation during apoptosis. DFF becomes activated when DFFA is cleaved by caspase-3. The cleaved fragments of DFFA dissociate from DFFB, the active component of DFF. DFFB has been found to trigger both DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation during apoptosis.
Source : E.coli.

What diseases or conditions are associated with dysregulation or abnormal expression of DFFA, particularly in the context of apoptotic dysfunction? 08/28/2019

Dysregulation or abnormal expression of DFFA is associated with various conditions, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders, highlighting its role in apoptotic dysfunction.

How does DFFA contribute to DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation during apoptotic cell death? 10/27/2018

DFFA contributes to DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation by being cleaved and activated by caspases, particularly caspase-3, during apoptotic cell death.

In which cellular compartments is DFFA predominantly localized, especially during the initiation of apoptosis? 10/21/2018

DFFA is predominantly localized in the nucleus, specifically during the initiation of apoptosis, where it actively participates in chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation.

Are there therapeutic implications or potential targets related to DFFA in diseases involving apoptotic dysregulation and abnormal cell survival? 05/18/2018

There are potential therapeutic implications related to DFFA in diseases involving apoptotic dysregulation and abnormal cell survival, making it a target for drug development.

What is the primary function of DNA Fragmentation Factor Subunit Alpha (DFFA) in cellular processes and apoptosis? 03/05/2018

DNA Fragmentation Factor Subunit Alpha (DFFA) plays a crucial role in cellular processes, primarily contributing to the execution of apoptosis and programmed cell death.

How does DFFA participate in regulating the balance between cell survival and programmed cell death in various tissues? 03/02/2018

DFFA actively participates in regulating the balance between cell survival and programmed cell death in various tissues, influencing tissue homeostasis.

Are there specific caspases or factors that activate DFFA, influencing its role in the execution phase of apoptosis? 04/10/2016

Specific caspases, including caspase-3, activate DFFA, influencing its role in the execution phase of apoptosis and facilitating efficient DNA degradation.
