Description : | Luetinzing Hormone (LH) also known as lutropin is a heterodimeric glycoprotein. Each monomeric unit is a glycoprotein molecule; one alpha and one beta subunit make the full, functional protein. Luteinizing Hormone is essential for reproduction in both males and females.According to Labtest online: LH is often used in conjunction with other tests (FSH, testosterone, estradiol and progesterone) in the workup of infertility in both men and women. Luteinizing Hormone levels are also useful in the investigation of menstrual irregularities and to aid in the diagnosis of pituitary disorders or diseases involving the ovaries or testes. In children, FSH and LH are used to diagnose delayed and precocious (early) puberty.Luteinzing Hormone is sometimes measured in relation to gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) to distinguish between primary or secondary disorders involving the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, or the gonads. GnRH is the hormone produced by the hypothalamus that stimulates the pituitary to release LH and FSH. For this test, a baseline blood sample is drawn and then the patient is given an injection of GnRH. Subsequent blood samples are drawn at specified times and the level of LH is measured. This test can help differentiate between disease of the ovaries or testes (primary) and a disorder of the pituitary or hypothalamus (secondary). |

Ask a questionThere can be loss of bone mineral density so men at risk of osteoporosis should be carefully monitored or treated with bisphosphonates.
Inhibitors ablation are reversible.
LH activates extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) and protein kinase B (PKB/AKT) to drive cell proliferation, differentiation and survival in a variety of cell types.
Yes,you can.Activated LHCGR couples to Gαs G-proteins to initiate the adenylyl cyclase, cAMP and protein kinase A (PKA) signaling pathway.
LH act through the luteinizing hormone choriogonadotropin receptor (LHCGR).
Mechanisms include increased sensitivity of hormone receptors, hormone receptor variants, pathway activation without exposure to hormones (constitutive activation) or upregulated downstream survival pathways.
Using a GnRH (or LH-releasing hormone (LHRH)) agonist (GnRHa,LHRHa) such as goserelin or leuprorelin, usually as a monthly depot injection.
Hormone therapy can be used to reduce the size of the primary cancer before radical surgery or radiotherapy, or to reduce the risk of recurrence.
At high hormone and receptor levels, LHCGR couples to Gαq G-proteins to activate phospholipase C and inositol phosphate signaling to increase intracellular Ca2+.
Like all other gonadotropin hormones, are heterodimers consisting of two monomeric glycoproteins that combine to make a functional protein. They share a common α-subunit, with structural and functional specificity conferred through differing β-subunits.
