The results produced by using them are more repeatable than those produced by polyclonal antibodies and are less likely to cross-react with other proteins. Polyclonal antibodies consist of a mixture of antibodies that represent the natural immune response of the antigen. This antibody mixture detects a range of epitopes on the protein, so they have a higher risk of variation between batches than monoclonal antibodies.
