Product Name: | Recombinant Histone H3.3-H4 tetramers |
Description: | Tetramer of 2 full length N-terminal Flag tagged recombinant histone H4 units and 2 N-terminal His taggedrecombinant histone H3.3 units, produced in E. coli. |
Background: | Histones are the main constituents of the protein part of chromosomes of eukaryotic cells. They are rich in the amino acidsarginine and lysine and have been greatly conserved during evolution. Histones pack the DNA into tight masses of chromatin. Two core histones of each class H2A, H2B, H3 and H4 assemble and are wrapped by 146 base pairs of DNA to form one octamericnucleosome. Histone tails undergo numerous post-translational modifications, which either directly or indirectly alter chromatinstructure to facilitate transcriptional activation or repression or other nuclear processes. The histone variant H3.3 replacesconventional H3.1 in a wide range of nucleosomes in active genes. H3.3 constitutes the predominant form of histone H3 in nondividing cells. |
