Alternative Name:  H3S10p;Histone H3 (S10 phosphorylation)
Scientific Background:  Histone H3 undergoes many modifications including acetylation, methylation, and phosphorylation that are important for regulation of gene transcription. Phosphorylation of serine 10 in histone H3 (phospho-H3Ser10) is involved in two events requiring opposing degrees of chromatin compaction: transcription and cell division. During interphase, phosphorylation correlates with chromatin relaxation and gene expression, whereas during mitosis it correlates with chromosome condensation.
