  • Official Full Name
  • ventral anterior homeobox 2
  • Background
  • This gene encodes a homeobox protein and is almost exclusively expressed in the ventral portion of the retina during development. In mouse studies, this gene was found to be required for the correct formation of the optic fissure and other aspects of retinal development.
  • Synonyms
  • VAX2; ventral anterior homeobox 2; DRES93; OTTHUMP00000160128

Protein Function

VAX2 has several biochemical functions, for example, RNA polymerase II intronic transcription regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding, chromatin DNA binding, transcription factor activity, sequence-specific DNA binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by VAX2 itself. We selected most functions VAX2 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with VAX2. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
