Description : |
Casein kinase 2 (CK2) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that is ubiquitously expressed in eukaryotic cells. CK2 is a heterotetrameric enzyme composed of two catalytic subunits (α and/or α') and two regulatory subunits (β). The α and α' subunits have high sequence identity and are functionally interchangeable. CK2 plays a role in many cellular processes, including cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. It has been shown to regulate the activity of various transcription factors, kinases, and phosphatases. CK2 is also involved in the regulation of ion channels, membrane transporters, and the cytoskeleton. Overexpression of CK2 has been observed in many types of cancer, and has been linked to the regulation of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. CK2 has also been implicated in the regulation of viral infections, and is known to be involved in the replication of several viruses, including hepatitis C virus, HIV, and human papillomavirus. |

Applications : |
Drug Discovery & Development |
Storage : |
1 year at -20 centigrade. |
Handling Advice : |
Rapidly thaw the vial under cold water and immediately place on ice. Aliquot unused material into prechilled micro-centrifuge tubes and immediately snap-freeze the vials in liquid nitrogen prior to re-storage at -70 centigrade. |
Use/Stability : |
On receipt of material store at -20 centigrade. Unopened reagent is stable for a minimum of 6 months from date of shipment when stored at recommended storage temperature. Avoid repeat freeze/thaw cycles. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge original vial prior to removing the cap. |
