Description : | GAK (Cyclin-G-associated kinase) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that is involved in the regulation of several cellular processes, including cell cycle progression, endocytosis, and Golgi complex organization. GAK has been shown to phosphorylate several key proteins involved in the regulation of the cell cycle, including cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1) and its regulatory subunit cyclin B1. Research has suggested that GAK may be involved in the development and progression of several diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease. In cancer, GAK has been shown to be upregulated in several types of cancer, and may play a role in the regulation of cancer cell growth and survival. In Parkinson's disease, GAK has been implicated in the regulation of the clearance of α-synuclein, a protein that forms abnormal aggregates in the brain of Parkinson's disease patients. |
