Description : | This protein belongs to the lipocalin family and is the specific carrier for retinol (vitamin A alcohol) in the blood. It delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues. In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin which prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli. A deficiency of vitamin A blocks secretion of the binding protein posttranslationally and results in defective delivery and supply to the epidermal cells. |
Source : | Mouse myeloma cell line |
Species : | Human |
Tag : | C-6×His |
Bio-activity : | Measured by its ability to bind all-trans retinoic acid. The binding of retinoic acid results in the quenching of Trp fluorescence in RBP4. >1.0 μM all-trans retinoic acid is bound under the described conditions. |
Molecular Mass : | Predicted Molecular Mass: 22 kDa SDS-PAGE: 22 kDa, reducing conditions |
Protein Length : | Glu19-Leu201 |
N-terminal Sequence Analysis : | Glu19 |
Endotoxin : | <1.0 EU/μg of the protein by the LAL method. |
Purity : | > 95%, by SDS-PAGE visualized with Silver Staining and quantitative densitometry by Coomassie Blue Staining. |
Storage : | Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. 6 months from date of receipt, -20 to -70 centigrade as supplied. 3 months, -20 to -70 centigrade under sterile conditions after reconstitution. |
Storage Buffer : | Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in Tris and NaCl. |
Reconstitution : | Reconstitute at 500 μg/mL in sterile 50 mM Tris, 10 mM CaCl2 and 150 mM NaCl, pH 7.5. |
Shipping : | The product is shipped at ambient temperature. |
