Description : | JMJD2B (Jumonji domain-containing protein 2B), also known as KDM4B, is a histone demethylase that belongs to the JmjC domain-containing protein family. It specifically targets di- and tri-methylated lysine residues on histones H3 and H4, and catalyzes their removal, leading to changes in chromatin structure and gene expression. JMJD2B is expressed in a variety of tissues, including the brain, heart, and liver, and is involved in the regulation of various cellular processes, including differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis. JMJD2B has been shown to play a role in the development of several types of cancer, including breast, prostate, and lung cancers. It has also been implicated in the regulation of various viral infections, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and human papillomavirus (HPV). Therefore, JMJD2B has emerged as a potential target for the development of novel therapeutics for cancer and viral infections. |
