Description: TAF1 RNA polymerase II, TATA box binding protein (TBP)-associated factor, 210 kDa-like (TAF1L), is homologous to TAF1 and contains bromodomains for interaction with other proteins. The bromodomain functions as a "reader" of epigenetic histone marks and regulates chromatin structure and gene expression by linking associated proteins to the recognized acetylated nucleosomal targets. TAF1L is specifically expressed in the testis in male germ cells. It may act as a functional substitute for TAF1 during male meiosis when sex chromosomes are transcriptionally silenced.
