  • Official Full Name
  • neurolysin (metallopeptidase M3 family)
  • Background
  • This gene encodes a member of the metallopeptidase M3 protein family that cleaves neurotensin at the Pro10-Tyr11 bond, leading to the formation of neurotensin(1-10) and neurotensin(11-13). The encoded protein is likely involved in the termination of the neurotensinergic signal in the central nervous system and in the gastrointestinal tract.

Protein Function

NLN has several biochemical functions, for example, metal ion binding, metalloendopeptidase activity, peptide binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by NLN itself. We selected most functions NLN had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with NLN. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
