• Official Full Name
  • Visinin like protein 1
  • Background
  • Visinin-like protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the VSNL1 gene. This gene is a member of the visinin/recoverin subfamily of neuronal calcium sensor proteins.[4] The encoded protein is strongly expressed in granule cells of the cerebellum where it associates with membranes in a calcium-dependent manner and modulates intracellular signaling pathways of the central nervous system by directly or indirectly regulating the activity of adenylyl cyclase. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed, but their full-length nature has not been determined.

Protein Function

VSNL1 has several biochemical functions, for example, calcium ion binding, protein binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by VSNL1 itself. We selected most functions VSNL1 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with VSNL1. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

Interacting Protein

VSNL1 has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with VSNL1 here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of VSNL1.
