GGT6

Official Full Name gamma-glutamyltransferase 6
Background GGT6 belongs to the gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT; EC 2.3.2.2) gene family. GGT is a membrane-bound extracellular;enzyme that cleaves gamma-glutamyl peptide bonds in glutathione and other peptides and transfers the gamma-glutamyl;moiety to acceptors. GGT is also key to glutathione homeostasis because it provides substrates for glutathione;synthesis (Heisterkamp et al., 2008 (PubMed 18357469)).
Synonyms GGT6; gamma-glutamyltransferase 6; gamma glutamyltransferase 6 homolog (rat); FLJ90165; Gamma glutamyltranspeptidase 6; GGT 6; gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase 6; gamma-glutamyltransferase 6 homolog

GGT6 has several biochemical functions, for example, gamma-glutamyltransferase activity, glutathione hydrolase activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by GGT6 itself. We selected most functions GGT6 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with GGT6. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
