KARS

  • Official Full Name

    lysyl-tRNA synthetase

  • Overview

    Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases are a class of enzymes that charge tRNAs with their cognate amino acids. Lysyl-tRNA synthetase is a homodimer localized to the cytoplasm which belongs to the class II family of tRNA synthetases. It has been shown to be a target of autoantibodies in the human autoimmune diseases, polymyositis or dermatomyositis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
  • Synonyms

    KARS; lysyl-tRNA synthetase; lysine--tRNA ligase; KARS2; lysine tRNA ligase; lysRS; KRS; CMTRIB; KIAA0070;

KARS has several biochemical functions, for example, ATP binding, amino acid binding, lysine-tRNA ligase activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by KARS itself. We selected most functions KARS had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with KARS. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

KARS has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with KARS here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of KARS.
