The Building of Merck Serono was Bought by A Consortium
On May 22, 2013, it was reported that the former building of drug company Merck Serono in Geneva was bought by the two richest men in Switzerland: Hansjörg Wyss and Ernesto Bertarelli, actually to a consortium—Campus Biotech. Dramatically it is Bertarelli who sold the Serono to Merck in 2007.
About a year ago, Merck Serono said that it planned to shut down the Geneva Headquarters, which made thousands of people would lost job.
After taking over, which is supposed to happen on June 28, they plan to set up biotech research center in the place, the project includes the creation of Wyss Institute for Bio- and Neuro-Engineering
The deal was appraised and supported by many people.
Now the pharmaceutical industry remains one of the most important economic and academic activities over the world.
