HSF1
-
Official Full Name
heat shock transcription factor 1
-
Overview
The product of this gene is a heat-shock?transcription factor. Transcription of heat-shock genes is rapidly induced after temperature stress.?Hsp90, by itself and/or associated with multichaperone complexes, is a major repressor of this gene. -

Ask a questionHSF1 is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm of cells, and it undergoes nuclear translocation upon activation.
The role of HSF1 includes regulating protein homeostasis and the heat shock response, ensuring cellular proteostasis.
Dysregulation or abnormal expression of HSF1 is associated with conditions such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and metabolic diseases.
HSF1 influences cellular processes such as apoptosis and senescence, playing a role in cell fate decisions under stress conditions.
Heat shock factor 1 (HSF1) primarily functions in cellular stress responses, orchestrating the heat shock response.
There are potential therapeutic implications related to HSF1 in diseases involving cellular stress, making it a target for drug development.
HSF1 becomes activated in response to cellular stress, such as heat shock, and it induces the expression of heat shock proteins.
