Official Full Name | Duffy blood group, chemokine receptor |
Background | The protein encoded by this gene is a glycosylated membrane protein and a non-specific receptor for several chemokines. The encoded protein is the receptor for the human malarial parasites Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium knowlesi. Polymorphisms in this gene are the basis of the Duffy blood group system. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. |

DARC has several biochemical functions, for example, C-C chemokine binding, G-protein coupled receptor activity, receptor activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by DARC itself. We selected most functions DARC had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with DARC. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

DARC has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with DARC here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of DARC.
