PNMT

  • Official Full Name

    phenylethanolamine N-methyltransferase
  • Overview

The product of this gene catalyzes the last step of the catecholamine biosynthesis pathway, which methylates norepinephrine to form epinephrine (adrenaline). The enzyme also has beta-carboline 2N-methyltransferase activity. This gene is thought to play a key step in regulating epinephrine production. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2012]

    Protein Function

PNMT has several biochemical functions, for example, phenylethanolamine N-methyltransferase activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by PNMT itself. We selected most functions PNMT had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with PNMT. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

    Interacting Protein

PNMT has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with PNMT here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of PNMT.
