PROK1

  • Official Full Name

    prokineticin 1

  • Overview

    The protein encoded by this gene induces proliferation, migration, and fenestration (the formation of membrane discontinuities) in capillary endothelial cells derived from endocrine glands. It has little or no effect on a variety of other endothelial and non-endothelial cell types. Its expression is restricted to the steroidogenic glands (ovary, testis, adrenal, and placenta), is induced by hypoxia, and often complementary to the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), suggesting that these molecules function in a coordinated manner.
  • Synonyms

    EG-VEGF; Endocrine-gland-derived vascular endothelial growth factor; Mambakine; PROK1; PROK1_HUMAN; Prokineticin-1; prokineticin 1; PK1; PRK1; EGVEGF;

PROK1 has several biochemical functions, for example, G-protein coupled receptor binding, growth factor activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by PROK1 itself. We selected most functions PROK1 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with PROK1. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

PROK1 has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with PROK1 here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of PROK1.
