This gene encodes a large abundant protein of striated muscle. The product of this gene is divided into two regions, a N-terminal I-band and a C-terminal A-band. Those products cover a large range of uses including ELISA; WB-Re; AP, and Array.
TTN is also known as TMD, CMH9, CMD1G, CMPD4, EOMFC, HMERF, MYLK5 and LGMD2J. It provides instructions for making a very large protein called titin, which plays an important role in the function of muscles the body used for movement and the heart muscles. According to its different features, TTN can be categorized into different families which include fibronectin type III domain containing, immunoglobulin superfamily, and immunoglobulin superfamily.
