CENPE

  • Official Full Name

    centromere protein E, 312kDa

  • Overview

Centrosome-associated protein E is a kinesin-like motor protein that accumulates in the G2 phase of the cell cycle. Unlike other centrosome-associated proteins, it is not present during interphase and first appears at the centromere region of chromosomes during prometaphase. CENPE is proposed to be one of the motors responsible for mammalian chromosome movement and/or spindle elongation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

CENPE has several biochemical functions, for example, ATP binding, ATPase activity, microtubule binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by CENPE itself. We selected most functions CENPE had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with CENPE. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

CENPE has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with CENPE here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of CENPE.
