  • Official Full Name
  • keratin 9
  • Background
  • Keratin 9 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the KRT9 gene. This gene encodes the type I keratin 9, an intermediate filament chain expressed only in the terminally differentiated epidermis of palms and soles. Mutations in this gene cause epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma.

Protein Function

KRT9 has several biochemical functions, for example, structural molecule activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by KRT9 itself. We selected most functions KRT9 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with KRT9. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
